Matrix Policies

  • Matrix points are obtained by completing approved resources above.
  • A minimum amount of points must be obtained via conference attendance.
  • The remainder of the matrix point goal can be obtained in any proportion from the allotted resources.
  • Academic Half Day attendance is required but does not have assigned points and does not factor into the matrix.

Failure to Achieve Matrix Goals

  • Tier 1: If you do not meet your year-end in-person requirement, you will receive a letter from program leadership documenting that you have not met expectations and informing you of the number of matrix points below goal. You will have 90 days to submit certificates of approved CME activities in the amount of 1.5 hours for each matrix point below goal to ukimed@uky.edu. You will be ineligible to moonlight.
  • Tier 2: If you do not submit sufficient CME certificates by the end of the 90-day period, your A&E time will be converted into assigned, inperson/supervised structured learning activities until your 90-day target is achieved.
  • Tier 3: If you do not present for your structured A&E time, you will be brought before the Core Competency Committee to discuss professionalism.

Incentives for Exceeding Conference Minimums

  • PGY 1 and 2: exceed by 30 conferences = 1 extra A&E day; exceed by 60 = 2 extra A&E days; exceed by 90 = 3 extra A&E days.
  • A&E days will be given in the next PGY year.
  • PGY 3: achieve minimum conference requirement by first Monday of April = Board Stipend.
