Resident Support
Wellness
Health, resilience, and community resources for UK Internal Medicine residents, adapted from the program's legacy wellness offerings into a cleaner internal hub.
Mental Health
- UK GME Mental Wellness
- LMS Physician Wellness Program offers eight sessions per year at no cost.
- UK HR Mental Health includes counseling resources, including up to five therapy appointments per fiscal year.
Child & Pet Care
- The Little Cats Guide
- Big Blue Family Care connects residents with prescreened UK students for occasional child or pet care, including nights and weekends.
- Residents also commonly use third-party apps such as Care.com, Wag!, and Rover when they need self-directed backup coverage.
Meaning in Medicine
- Finding Meaning in Medicine and Meaning Report are program offerings built around the idea that physicians do better when they have room to share the joys and challenges of medicine with colleagues who understand the work.
- These sessions alternate monthly and draw on Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen's work, with time set aside to connect over a meal and talk openly about the lived experience of training.
- For more information, contact Dr. Angie Webb.
Narrative Medicine
- The Narrative Medicine group is a resident-led initiative that promotes reflection and wellness among residents and IM faculty.
- Residents use stories, art, dance, and other creative media to share moments in medicine, review pieces together, and circulate submission opportunities.
- For more information, contact Alyssa Lambrecht.
Shoutouts & Community
- Shoutouts are a chance to recognize residents, fellows, and faculty who go above and beyond through teamwork, teaching, leadership, or everyday support.
- Social Chairs help build community through resident events and help highlight program life across residency social channels.
